Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Brushless RTR Monster Truck (Orange)
Wow what a nice big bunch of awesomeness. It is big, but honestly it gets small quickly once you head off into a field of unknown rock height and dip depth...
Have only run it for a few weeks but it has been my go-to for fast, fun runs chasing turkeys on 20+acres. If you have a larger area like this to run in the XMaxx is awesome and the size becomes necessary. At a minimum I grab my E-Revo2.0 if not this XMaxx for anything out in the grass or over larger terrain features.
It can be fun on 6s, but yeah spring for some nice 6000mAH to 6700mAH 4s packs and get all you can out of her.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Brushless RTR Monster Truck (Orange)
Been in the hobby 25 years. This is by far my favorite. No not a Traxxas band wagon. I have several of RC vehicles all different brands. The only thing I changed was steering servo. Great investment.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Brushless RTR Monster Truck (Orange)
It's a very big very powerful truck. I've already addressed some of its weak points. Rear axel carriers by rpm. And rpm body protecters and roof skids..The stock steering servo is kinda weak and that's my next upgrade that will be coming soon. Overall I'd say it's a very well built monster of a truck. Price is kinda high. This is my honest opinion. I think for the price it shouldn't need a steering servo upgrade out of the box..

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Brushless RTR Monster Truck (Orange)
This truck is a beast runs awesome wheelies at command not like other cars that wheelie and can’t be handled. If you buy this truck keep in mind getting a new servo. I was outside playing with my truck and in the first 40 minutes the servo broke. And now I have to wait a whole week for a new servo to arrive. I wrote traxxas about the issue and they told me to buy the servo gears. Because i would have to pay the parts from them for a brand new car that has less than a hour in it. I ordered the Protek 370tbl crawler servo and the servo adapter. 600oz/in of torque should be enough for those 8 inch tall tires. Amain has better customer support out of all the companies . Amain Rocks!!!!!! I will give 3 stars because of The servo also the rear bearings suck 40 minutes of run time and the bearing protector fell off.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Brushless RTR Monster Truck (Orange)
11/28/20 - Update. If I could give it zero stars I would. Since my review of this truck in October, I'm down a few hundred more bucks. I had to remove my motor, esc and receiver and send it ALL back to Traxxas for warranty along with my radio. Couple weeks later when they sent everything back (they replaced all of them), I put everything back in took the truck out and the pinion and spur gear shredded again. And yes, I installed it correctly and made sure no teeth from the previous ones were in there. So on to pinion & spur gears #3... Took it out again aaaand... the steering went out. Turns out the servo gears were shot. So I went with the upgraded $100 2085x high torque servo and stiffer saver spring. (I dunno if you've tried replacing the steering servo on this thing yet, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass) However, the new saver spring is too stiff for the stock bell crank assembly and it tore the threads right out. So there goes $50 on an aluminum bell crank assembly. Several more days of waiting, I installed the new bell crank assembly. Re-assembled the truck, powered up and BLINK BLINK BLINK the ESC has reset itself. But guess what? The EZ set button is broken, after pressing it 20 times it finally took. Off we go ! But guess what happened 10 minutes later? Steering goes out again, this time it's the servo horn. Totally stripped out. So my truck once again sits in its most frequent state, broken. No local shops have the horn in stock. And the ESC is still broken.

-----
Fun to drive, on the rare occasion it doesnt break down. Had this truck barely a month. Nothing but problems. I’ve taken it out once, maybe twice a week since I’ve had it and only twice did something not break. Apparently it goes through wheel bearings like water, I’ve had 4 explode at $10 a pair. I’ve also had a pinion shred ($10) teeth off, a spur gear ($20+) same thing (about 15 teeth gone), both rear wheels have had their foam lined lump up into one spot, so I
had to replace those at $70 for a pair. And today about 10 minutes into my run, the throttle just completely cut out. Tried resetting the ESC, tried adjusting the throttle trim, didnt work. Now if I hold the throttle down full the truck either doesnt move, goes 5mph, or jumps speeds from 0mph to maybe 15mp and everywhere in between. if this is how easy and often it breaks when it’s new, I can’t imagine when it’s a year or two old. I figure either I got a lemon, or this truck is no where neae as durable as people claim it to be. So far, definitely not worth the $~1400 this thing cost... plus the $120 or so in parts so far.

I had my eye on one of these for a while. Was excited to get it, but so far it’s been very frustrating and disappointing. Now I have to call Traxxas tomorrow about the ESC and probably send it to them & be without my truck for who knows how long.
