Traxxas Stampede 4X4 LCG 1/10 RTR Monster Truck (Red)
My three kids (ages 6,8 and 10) each have a Stampede 2WD and they are an absolute blast, so I bought the 4x4 to run with them. These trucks are very durable, surviving full-speed crashes with other trucks, tree trunks, fences, and all sorts of immovable objects with little more than a scratch. As expected, the 4x4 is very marginally slower, but more stable than the 2WD; it doesn't wheelie as easily and the turning radius is slightly wider so it doesn't tip over as much. It is fast enough for us running in our suburban backyard with the standard pinion, but when we are able to go to a park with a wide open space, I can see how swapping the pinion or going to a brushless motor would be even more fun. Using the stock NiMH battery, I get around 20 minutes of run time and with the 5800mah li-po, I get 30-40 minutes. I really appreciate that, after running all day in dust, dirt, and wet grass, I can just hose it off and not worry about getting the electronics wet (I do use a leaf blower to dry it off though and blow out any pooling water). All around, you can't go wrong with this truck at just about any skill level.
