The Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza WRC Monte Carlo 2005 Race Car Model Kit, a plastic assembly model of the full size car.
For the 2005 WRC Monte Carlo Rally, the Subaru team entered the upgraded Subaru Impreza as used in the latter half of the 2004 season. Despite suffering brake troubles, 2003 champion Petter Solberg was able to keep up with the leaders after the first 2 days. On the final day he recorded the fastest times in the first 2 stages to climb up to 3rd place, before being forced to retire after a heavy crash in the snow. Although unlucky in the first race of the season, Solberg and the Subaru team were able to quickly forget the disappointment of Monte Carlo, taking victory in round 2 in Sweden, proving Solberg and the Impreza have what it takes to win the WRC crown back. Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza WRC Monte Carlo 2005 Race Car
Tamiya lets everyone down on this one. Yes it is a re-package of the famous Subaru Imprezza that dominates the rally car world and Tamiya provides a consistent product of the highest quality. However high quality of a basic kit with perhaps 6 new decals does not warrant the retail price of $50.00. It is because of Tamiya's quality and universal approach to introducing cars from every corner of the world that I decided to give it a try. What you get is a Subaru, not exactly a "poster or dream car" built out of about 40 to 50 parts. The price and packaging imply a 2 week project. Of course their are tons of "option" parts that do not even appear in the instructions so on the bright side you get some spare parts for customizing other kits. A very forgettable purchase that because of its MRSP puts the retailers, in an awkward position. It is simply not a $50 kit but it is sent to stores as the price is justified. It is a basic, curbside re-package that at 25-30 dollars would have been perfect. Perhaps you could build the 2 versions they claim they provide decals for. Of course a couple new stickers with the only difference - a number 5 or 6. Very disappointed.
