This is the Volantex RC 1400mm Super Decathlon PNP (Plug-N-Play) Brushless Aerobatic Trainer Airplane. Great for beginners or the professional pilot, the 1400mm Super Decathlon is an exciting aerobatic sport style airplane that features great realistic scale looks and wonderful aerobatics. With the use of a plastic Unibody design and ABS cowling construction, the plane is extremely durable compared to other airplanes on the market.

With assembly times around an hour, youíll appreciate how quiet the brushless power system delivers outstanding performance for long and enjoyable flights. After youíve mastered the basics of flight, the Decathlon is capable of performing a complement of aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, rolls, and even inverted flight.

Features:

  • Plastic Unibody Fuselage: The whole fuselage is produced using a one-step molding system. This technology produces high durability and beautiful looks.
  • Super Scale Cockpit Design: Thanks to the Plastic Unibody Design, the cockpit insert is very similar to the real plane and produces great scale detail.

Volantex R/C Super Decathlon PNP Brushless Aerobatic Trainer Airplane
This is a beautiful airplane....but it is NOT an Aerobatic Trainer. The airplane is grossly underpowered and heavy also has a very unpredictable tip stall at lower speeds. After many attempts at rebinding as suggested by amain tech support, I installed a 13x6 prop and a 4s battery (the esc will support 4s batteries). Now the airplane performs well enough to complete a loop from level flight. I would not recommend this plane for a trainer unless you want to learn how deadly Takeoff/Departure stalls can be. The plane flys well enough with a 4s battery just keep the speed up. If looking for a high wing aerobatic trainer I would recommend a parkzone sport cub. As a "good looker" I give it 5 stars, as a Trainer I give it 1 star. Durability 10 stars LOL ....After 3 months I have found this aircraft to be completely unacceptable. I thought that I could get it to fly properly, it is just too heavy to fly well. It is a turd. Save your money. Parts take forever to get also.

Volantex R/C Super Decathlon PNP Brushless Aerobatic Trainer Airplane
With regard to the above review, I agree that this plane is very underpowered. I'm not sure about upgrading to a 4S battery without upgrading the motor and ESC as well.I have read in several articles on RC Groups that the stock motor will not handle 4S power for long before melting but don't know as I never ran my stock motor on 4S. I have modified my Super Decathlon by converting to 4S using a NTM 35-42 prop drive motor, Turnigy AE-65AE ESC and using Zippy Compact, 4S, 2200 mAh, 40C battery. This plane now flies like it should with all kinds of power and performs aerobatics as a Super Decathlon should. Also I should mention that the ESC that comes as stock on this plane is very suspect and has been known to fail in flight for no obvious reason and has been responsible for the loss of more than a few planes. A great flyer once the 4S motor and ESC conversion has been made. Rate 2 stars before the 4S upgrade and 4 stars after.
