Bought one of these after owning 10 other protek servos of various models for buggy ST, SC, crawling. I put this 370TBL in my fiances ax10. THE Best and strongest servo I have ever owned....highly recommend this servo.....home run guys
WOW! hard to believe there were bad reviews on this servo. This thing is a beast. I ran over 2200 gates at Axialfest with this in my scx10ii and it could literally push my rig around. I then ran about 400 + gates with my 11.4 pound 2.2 custom Wroncho build. Again, it had enough power to toss the rig around when bound against a rock. I will warn you though if you don't have metal everything that is attached to this servo the servo will destroy it. Plastic steering link, servo horns, knuckles or chubs will be ruined behind this much power. I heard there were some issues with the first release but they definitely have the bugs worked out. I own two and plan on running them in my rigs for now on.
I ran this servo during 12 hour event at The Pro-Line Fix Enduro and it stayed strong, cool and never a hiccup all day long in the brutal conditions of the High Desert near Apple Valley, CA. I'm very happy and proud to say the 370TBL is now Recon G6 Certified!!! I have finally found the steering servo for me and the harsh conditions that I put my rig through on a regular basis. Thank You. ;)
On a scale from 1-10 I would give this a 12+.
I bought this when it first came out and that night I used it to push a garden brick across the table. It pushed with such force it actually pushed it away from the servo. I have it in my Beast II and it is a monster. It has been fully submerged in mud and still works like a champ. Will recommend to all my crawling buddies.
Ok after busting up 3 servos on my Wraith I pucheased this one and I have to say well worth the money! I have Castle Creations Mamba X with 2850KV motor running 4S Lipo it tops out about 30MPH and I have hit many objects busting rod ends and steering links and this servo is still running on the original set of gears without a servo saver! When I run on trails I use a 3S Lipo and this servo has monster torque! Don’t be a fool like me and waste $$ on cheaper servos buy this one! Also I did cross a creek with my Wraith and the servo was under water and the servo survived.
***UPDATE***
10/25/2108 The hot racing servo horn just bent but the servo is still going strong!!! It’s a beast!
I set this servo up on a RTR SCX 10ii Honcho, BEC set at 6 volts, vanquish 25T servo horn. Works flawlessly. I also shimmed the servo with 4 1mm ball cup spacers made by ProTek. Lifting the servo by 1mm allowed for no binding. I have about 3 hours on this setup and am very happy.
Works well in my TRX4.
One thing to note: the power lead is WAY too short for the TRX4. You'll either need to flip the receiver box around or buy an extension cable to make it work (I did both).
My experience with this servo has been great so far on a medium weight TRX-4, with Hobbywing AXE FOC R2 3300kv motor and speed control combo, on ProTek 1800mah 3s LiHV batteries, controlled by a Spektrum DX5C transmitter/receiver. The server performs well whether on 6 or 7.4 volts. All of my steering linkages and cups are stock so I can't say whether or not it will destroy those, but it is very powerful.
The servo itself is of very high build quality. It's solid aluminum and looks great - I also had to purchase a 25t aluminum servo horn, and a servo extension wire to reach my receiver on a TRX-4 (item KOP36520). It is much quieter and way faster in operation than the stock Traxxas steering servo. I had no issues mounting it to the TRX-4 using the same stock hardware. If I had to build another truck, I'd buy this again for certain.
Lots of guys use this servo, so I bought one with confidence but the one I got must have been a dud. It wiggles oddly when I pick my crawler up. It’s pretty annoying and not something I’ve experienced with other servos...
Thought it was a brute on 6v. Bumped it to 8v. Beast mode!!!
I have both the 170t and 170s already, so I knew I had to get the crawler version for my crawler. These are the o ly servos I'm using going forward. Fast, powerfull and quiet. Cant beat them!!
Excellent product. First one I got had the shakes and called amain about it and they replaced it with a new one. This one works awesome, really strong servo.
My second one to buy, I've been running the first one for about a year with no issues.
Fit my traxxas trx4 sport no problem running seperate power with castle creations 10amp bec set to 7.4v with signal only from receiver. Very fast and strong love it.
Have this in my mt410 and it handling the badlands mx38 with no problem at 7.4v.
Haven"t had a chance to use it. I'm sure its great. I only bought it because of a black friday deal. Also, that weekend, I bombed my bomber of granite face, flipped over backward, and slammed in to more rock, front wheels first. Unfortunately, the tech notes on this servo said " it does not work well with tactic radios, and receivers", that come stock in scx10 2's, which is what I have. I couldn't pass up the deal. Maybe I'll use it on the 6s v5 kraton I've been wanting to get. Other people that seem what I did, said " I would have broke any servo on that impact". I'm glad it was only a $20 servo.
I received this servo as a warrantee exchange. AMain was more than helpful when my previous purchase stopped working. It’s good to see a company that stands behind their equipment. I won’t hesitate to buy from them in the future. Thank you AMain!
This servo is a must have for any crawler! My previous servo (cheap 25kg servo) would frequently stall out, especially after adding knuckle and wheel weights on my crawler. This Protek 370TBL has so much power it has no problem moving around. I've got mine running through a Castle BEC at 7.4V and it is a beast.
The only thing I would improve is adding a metal servo horn. The plastic horns is kind of a bummer for the price. Otherwise no complaints!
I Have quit a few of these Black Label's and have never had any problems they hold up well and I will buy more.
Got this servo for my TF2. Just finished it off with weighted ssd’s and added 6mm off put all around and the original servo couldn’t cut it. This servo is a beast. I’m glad the only thing plastic in my steering is the ball ends. Super smooth and super fast. Definitely getting another for the build I just started.
