Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
The Losi 1/5th scale cars are the only way to go. They start on a few quick pulls even after sitting for months. The are NOT like the little Nitro cars where you get blisters from trying to get the little ^#@%& to start from tiny, fragile pull cords. No glow plugs, etc.

With that out of the way, the 5ive-T stadium truck is the most rugged, the DBXL Dessert Buggy is probably the fastest, and the MTXL Monster truck is easily damaged due to its TINY front bumper. However, the Monster truck may be the most fun to drive, especially in snow.

The initial buy-in ($$$) may scare some people off, but I assure you, these things have way more "up-time" than any of the Traxxas nitro stuff and even the Kyosho 1/8th scale. They are also much easier to work on, parts are readily available and reasonable, the gas is CHEAP compared to nitro, and they take the bumps without flipping all the time like the smaller stuff. Even the much larger upgrade engines are less expensive that the tiny nitro counterparts. (Although I have not blown an engine like I have with the Nitro stuff) I suspect because these engines are used in all sorts of outdoor landscaping tools, etc. and there are economies of scale. Either way once you go big, you will never look back.

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
This is a great car. Came perfect out of the box and the manual was easy and self-explanatory. The car started on the 3rd pull and is still running perfectly. Thanks to the great customer support from Amain and the quick shipping was exellent

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
In Stock form, this buggy is ok at best. It has no power at all. Handling isn't great. The stock shocks suck. And the chassis flexes way to much. With that said. The dbxl can take a massive beating. Now. Once you throw on a pipe, metal chassis braces, 5ive- t front shocks (on the front and rear), and take the outer air filter off and replace it with an outerwears (taking the outer filter off doesn't apply with the k&n version). You will have a buggy that is quick, handles great, and can jump for days. In Stock form I give it a 3. With the upgrades mentioned above, I give it a 5.

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
This is a big RC model. The Losi K&N is twice the size of my T Maxx 3.3. the only thing I wish it had is reverse but I can deal with it being most don't have reverse. For a gas engine it is easier to start than my nitro.with all the clearance it can run over most anything I even ran it down a set of steps. Your going to need a lot of room to open it up.the only thing I had wrong was the antina tube keep falling out.

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
What a great rig. Bought it, shipped in days. Broke it out of the box read the manual while mixing up some 92 octane and maxima 927 castor oil. Started on 6th pull and runs like a champ. The drive line pins will fall out if you dont remove them and lock tight or glue them in. But other than that I have had no problems. Now it has a better servo setup, tuned pipe and I could not be more happy with it. Worth every penny.

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
Fun for about 45 minutes. Pin in front center universal came out. Took another 45 minutes to take car apart to remove it. Good thing I have a machine shop in my back yard. Used Tekno 1/8 scale buggy hinge pins to make new universal pins. Started checking all screws, about 90% of them were not tight. Used blue thread lock and installed new universal pin. Next day at the track. Front center universal pin came out again. Plus the rear center universal pin was halfway out. Losi quality control has gone down hill since horizon bought them out. Now the car is sitting in the shop, kill switch stop working. So after one and a half tanks of fuel. I have spent more time working on the car than actually driving it. Dont waste your money. Buy the new electric version, take it completely apart. Put it back together using quality thread locker and check everything your self.

Losi Desert Buggy XL "K&N" 4WD 1/5 Scale Buggy
POS! This DBXL is absolutely, ridiculously horrible. Rounded out screws and stripped bolt threads from the factory, barely any fluid in the diffs. I've had this rc for months and have ran 1 tank of fuel through it because it's a piece of garbage. I've gone round and round with Horizon Hobby about several vehicles. As with my other Losi's- a DBXL-E, a Super Rock Rey, a 5ive-T 2.0, and the DBXL- all are crap. They did send me a new Super Rock Rey, but it took a lot. Other than that all garbage. Buy something else.

Bought this truck. Broke it in. Pin in the front shaft fell out. On top of the motor when you give it gas fell on its face. Adjust little like book says now won’t run. Not a happy customer for sure
