Losi Desert Buggy DB XL-E 2.0 8S 1/5 RTR 4WD Electric Buggy (Fox)
Fast order processing and shipping from amain! This rc is a beast and so much fun!

I got a pair of gens ace 6000 mAh 100c 4s packs, and they do the job. When I first ran the buggy, the vehicle seemed sluggish. Turns out that I had to not only recalibrate the transmitter but also the esc following the spektrum firma instructions page 7&8 in this manual:

Once I did that, this buggy screams as it should.

Losi Desert Buggy DB XL-E 2.0 8S 1/5 RTR 4WD Electric Buggy (Fox)
Every manufacturer will have some issues, but LOSI seems to have more than everyone else. I've purchased a 5ive-t 2.0, a DBXL, a Super Rock Rey, and this DBXL-E. That's around $5000.00 not counting batteries or transmitters. All had problems and all have made me decide to get out of the RC hobby. I have more faith in our government than Horizon Hobby.(and that's pathetic).

Hmm... what to say about this thing? Honestly it's bigger than pictures make it look. The wheels look like they could fit on a lawn mower. I've played around with a lot of 8th and 10th scale rc's in the past, and was looking to try my hand at something bigger. And it's big haha! DBXL arrived super quick from AMain, and this thing is a beast. Love the Fox livery.

As far as handling goes, this thing is planted. As others have said, unless you're intentionally driving like a maniac, the buggy is hard to flip. Tried it out with 8s from the get go, left holes in my grass from how quickly it accelerates. Super smooth in the jumps, and flies well through the air. Absolutely zero complaints. Something I really like with the bigger scale, is I feel like it handles closer to how I'd expect a larger heavier vehicle to handle, so it feels more realistic to me.

Another thing to note, is it's heavy. It's big enough I can hold it by the tail fin and walk it down the road with the front wheels rolling on the ground like a bizarre stroller. The weight makes it tough to work on if you need to get under it, but the top is really easy to unclip and lean back making some repairs a breeze (not that I've had anything break yet).

I will say too, that like others have mentioned you'll want to just double check all the screws and bolts that they're tight. Picked up a weird rattle on my second run, brought it in to check and saw that my steering links were really loose.

All in all I love this thing. Looks good on the track, looks good on my shelf, it just looks good. Lots of fun to play with too. Well done Losi.

Over the top electric buggy. It will tear up your yard. Just run it in the neighbors lawn when they are gone. Fast and torquie. Go with 2 4s high Mah 100c batteries.

Ok fellas - this car isn't for the faint of heart. For those of you hoping to take it right out of the box and go tear up your local sandpit - don't. The car is crap in RTR form. You need to tear this car completely down and rebuild it before taking it out. Put in the time, and you'll reap the rewards. ---- When I tore down my DBXLE 2.0, I ran into a couple of problems. Most notably is the inconsistent application of thread lock. There was a ton on some screws - so much so I couldn't get them out, even heating them up with a soldering iron which led to dremel work. Then there were others where thread lock was non-existent. However, most disturbing of all was the differentials. NONE of them had hardly any fluid in them. I completely expected this on a RTR vehicle... plus, I wanted to put in thicker fluid anyway (500k, 1M, 200k). ---- Before even touching the DBXLE, I suggest getting on the Facebook forum. It's a treasure trove of information. I went on the hunt for all the weak parts. Most notably, get new axles. The stock one snap easily. I ordered some from FLM Racing right away - and glad I did. Not one issue with a snapped axle. I also ordered Badlands Tires all around (MX-43) because the stock tires will rip apart after the first, second, or if you're lucky, 3rd run. Just bite the bullet and replace them right away. I also purchased the mechanical brake set (you can find instruction on the DBXLE Forum on Facebook under documents that I created) which is worth it's weight in gold. Also get a better steering servo that is stronger and faster than stock. Replace the front and rear drivetrain bearings as the stock ones are not rubber sealed and will blow on you in no time, WHICH, will lead to your rack and pinion gears stripping. I can keep going with a few other things, but if you're serious about getting this car, you'd better know what you're doing. The manual is something to be desired regarding the tear down of this thing. You'll be relying on the blow up parts view mostly. Don't get frustrated, just take your time.

If you can get through the upgrades needed, the time tearing down and rebuilding, proper locktite & diff fluids (the shocks were find BTW) --- you're going to love this buggy. Ultimately, to be in a good spot, expect to invest approximately $500 to $700 beyond the price of the buggy itself. Once you're ready for some aluminum parts like towers & gear boxes including better ESC / Motor and a BEC --- Your total investment will jump to $2500 - $3000 or so. Don't kill the messenger - just being honest LOL. Losi made a great buggy, but only after rebuilding it and replacing high failure items.
