This is the Hot Racing Differential Lock Hub Spool for the Traxxas 2WD Slash, Rustler, Stampede and Bandit. This part replaces the differential gears for a locked differential and is recommended for off-road use only.

The problem with this is that it has a slight flat spot on one side of the shaft where the grub screw sits and is round on the other side of the shaft it spun freely after about 5 minutes on a 2200kv motor and a 4 cell lipo before you install this item remove the grub screws pull the shaft out of the locker and grind a flat spot on both sides of the shaft or drill a hole straight through and add a traxxas drive shaft pin don’t forget red lock tight I haven’t had any issues after doing this

Three laps and this thing strips out...Keep your money,save yourself some time tearing the transmission apart for no good reason,and run factory diff.You couldn’t give me a five gallon bucket full of these things

Hot Racing Differential Lock Hub Spool (Slash/Rustler/Stampede 2WD)
We bought this part to turn my son's Traxxas Slash into a drag Slash. What we found is that the part does not hold up to high torque. After three or four speed runs the shaft was spinning freely in the spool. Disassembly revealed that the set screws had failed allowing the spool to spin on the shaft. Further disassembly revealed that the torque also distorted the holes in the shaft, made them out of round and putting lips on the side of the hole. Had to file the shaft down to get the bearings off.

This should work fine in "normal" applications, but not in high torque situations. On the other hand, why would you want a locked rear axle if it weren't for torque?

Amazing part perfect fit and finish. Does what it is supposed to massive traction. Turned my stampede into a UFO when doing doughnuts no steering input required once it starts spinning. I'll be buying more for my other traxxas trucks .

I made 2 passes on a stock Traxxas motor and destroyed the locker they use set screws to keep it together an the bar strips super easy idk why they didn’t just weld it together i May have someone tig weld it if they get this issue fixed it would be sweet just buyer be ware

Does it’s job but after a few run the pins sheered on the inside so the diff was able to spin freely. I’m running 3800kv on 3s. Not tons of power but enough to get the job done but it definitely can’t handle higher torque. Stick with the stock gears with thicker diff fluid. Worked a lot better and saves money on a part that can’t hang
