HobbyZone Champ RTF Electric Airplane (517mm)
This is hands down the most fun I have had with any RC airplane in 40+ years of modeling. Flew it all last year with no troubles at all. I often use the roof or trunk lid of my car as a runway for take off. It will climb to a speck in the sky in two minutes, and turns 8 minute flights without hitting the motor cutoff point. Flying in close near dark the red led on the receiver board visibly lights up the motor cowling air openings. Cool.
There is one rule- little or no wind.

I learned to fly on this thing 4 years ago, so when I saw one at my LHS I had to pick it up. This thing flies great for something so small, and I use it for indoor gym flights. Very entertaining for pilot and spectators alike. Great quality, my first one took a beating before I totaled it (all in the name of learning!

Great durable plane. Wish the motor was a bit stronger. A light windy day makes the flight challenging but that's what increases flight experience. Love this plane. Lots of fun flying.

This little plane has a lot of great things going for it. The dihedral on this plane is awesome, it is an amazing plane to learn on. There really is not a lot of weight to it so it really can't get damaged. I say that only if you do not slam into a house, car, fence, garbage can. that will wear your plane out very quickly. I would recommend flying it on a no to very little windy day as any wind will push it around, but once you get the hang of it you can fly in relatively windy days and you can get pull the throttle back and if you are into the wind you can stop all forward momentum. I know it is billed as a back yard flyer and it will be once you get the hang of it. Just fly in a very open area, like a soccer field without fences as fences. See above for things that will damage your plane.

This is an amazing trainer, it has a beginner mode which I recommend using when you fist learn to fly, your controls will be slower, and I am by no means an expert, but it helped me out tremendously. Small movements on the sticks will make this a relaxing and enjoyable flight.

This plane is so relaxing to fly, which I never thought I would say flying is relaxing but it is very relaxing for me to fly, you can fly really slow and it just floats which is my preferred way of flying, you can do low and slow passes which are so much fun. I build a balsa wood glider several years ago and it was a lot of fun to fly but it took a very long time to build, which I enjoyed, but I had to cover it with monochrome....anyway it was a lot of work and I ended up rebuilding it several times.

I stopped flying for a very long time, but came across this and thought for the money it is worth a try. Pull it out of the box, install the batteries in your transmitter, charge the plane battery, that's it.

Now I would recommend that you check the center of gravity on this plane which is in the manual. I had to trim out my plane as I was constantly nosing down, so I constantly pulling back on the elevator to keep it flying level. One I did that it became very relaxing to fly.

HobbyZone Champ RTF Electric Airplane (517mm)
Fiance bought this for me as a christmas present. First flight rudder broke off and it was the nose that hit the ground. Scotch taped it. Over all this thing flys every bit like a $200 beginner plane. According to hobbyzones video if you let off the sticks it will gradually come down on it's own. I tried it several times and instead it actually tended to climb rather than descend this plane loves to climb. Very easy to fly and affordable. I recommend to any beginner.

This was my first RC plane. First flight was a success (no crashes or breaks). For the money, it cannot be beat.
