I have run this exact combo in a buggy and it is great. It was not my buggy which made me all that more impressed.
Also, I read a review from an "Aussie" that he can not get support from a company in America. First, A-main has without a doubt the best customer service in the RC industry and second, Hobbywing is not an A-main product. Contact HW if you need answers.
I wonder how many American's buy from an Australia company and get quality service just to be fair?
Last, the phone number is at the top. Pay the fee and call them.
Good combo. So much power and speed. Tested it on pavement with Schumacher mini pin tires. Getting some wheel spin and explosive speed off the line.
Fits in my tekno buggy no problen. Finding a place for the big on/off switch is the only difficulty in this thin buggy. Just mount it to the front side of the receiver box for tekno owners.
Had overheating problems with this combo (motor would overheat and the ESC would go into thermal protection which means me shutting down in the middle of a race), so I slapped some fans on it which got me by, but then I found out the rotor was cracked after taking it apart to inspect. My drive train is smooth as butter and I went down to a 15T pinion, so it was NOT something I did wrong. Hobbywing was great about getting a brand new motor shipped out to me right away, but only a few months later and the rotor is cracked on the replacement too. This time I'm out of warranty and they want $80 for a new one that only comes with a 90 day warranty (instead of 180)... no thanks, going to try the Tekin 1900kV motor this time around. The XR8 Plus speed control has not given me any issues, and I like the on/off switch on the Hobbywing over the basic mechanical switch on the Tekin ESC which is one of the reasons I ended up going with this over the Tekin ESC.
Thanks Amainhobbies for helping me choose this ESC and Motor!! I won't be running it right away, when i do i will edit my review and let you guys know how it runs for me. This awesome ESC and Motor sure looks like it's going to torque up my ride and hit some wicked speed on the track! Thanks Amainhobbies for the great service, shipping and wicked products!
Absolutely a great motor for my Tekno EB48.4 purchased thru AMain also, this 1900kv motor is a great 1/8th scale competitive motor that’s runs with any others manufacturer, super high quality, workmanship and highly engineered! Love it
I have had several Castle Creations motors and ESC's and this has blown them away!
So far I have been really impressed with this combo. Plenty of power and the ESC has many options to enable or turn down to your liking. Still getting use to all the electric components as I come from a Nitro background, but all in all. I am very pleased thus far and no complaints.
This set up is one of the best on the market,it runs heads up with the tekin 1900,I think a little faster.the esc fits snug in my serpant buggy..I'm glad I chose this set up over tekin.both top shelf. You definitely won't regret buying
Initially bought one of these combo for my MBX8 Eco buggy and was pretty happy with its performance. Tuning was made easy with the optional Hobbywing Wifi module. Performance is great. Easy to install and basically no maintenance involved. Now we have 3 Eco buggies all running the Hobbywing XR8 Plus/1900kv combo.
Very nice performance .. Has lots of power for E-buggy racing and easy to set up.
1. Includes an extra fan.
2. Its a workhorse.. and takes a beating. (as far as temps go)
1. This thing is massive .. very large footprint for an esc.
2. The on/off switch is also huge .. like why ? it is almost a joke. Trying to find a place for it to look good in your buggy is not easy when space is limited.
Great car for straight line runs with stock gearing. If you like that sort of thing. Be careful and keep your eye on the motor temperature. Changed to larger spur and smaller pinion. Car still very fast and motor temperature good I give it 5 stars after a few adjustments. Hope everyone who has one has fun!!!!!!!!
Dead on arrival...let the smoke out on pushing The power button.not at all happy with this hobby wing # hwa38020405.. wast of $290.00..so far .we will see see if hobby wing helps me at all..there initial response doesn't seem hopeful..
Had to get a new esc so I just got the combo esc just went crazy got run around from hobby wing email back and forth and then it end up tell yes esc is bad but it is out of warranty
Just got 2nd one for a cheap fix for now I will be going back to takin but did not have any troubles out entail I update firmware
These products have very little support / servicability if purchased here then shiped to Australia, the escs capacitors can easily be damadged ,and cannot be readily purchased for replacement ! Handle with kid gloves ! Couvered in the US ,but if youre an international customers forget it .if anythin goes wrong with it you may not be able to get it fixed localy ,ie through hobywing australia.having said that! A Main are the only people that have responded to my problem with the accidendamadged capacitors, and are trying to find the identifications and values of them ,and their availability !
If i can get replacement.easy, ime keen to try the 1900 combo ......update ,ok so AMAIN haven't bothered to follow up !sent me an email saying they (shane) would try to get the cap info for me and would get back to me the next day ! Then 4 days later another email indicating they dont know about the 1st e mail,? Ever since i cant access live chat ? Thanks for nothing amain .
