Had the LRP ix8 and the Tekin RX8 gen 2 neither can even start to compare to this, very smooth throttle and brake response, the only issues are make sure you have enough space to mount it, it is a Monster and make sure to order the multifunction program card due to it.has no stored profiles which if you plan on racing would need anyway save yourself the 150 and get one
I use the Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Plus ESC in my Axial Yeti running a 3S battery and 3500Kv 550 4-pole sensored motor and I am very pleased with it! I especially like the high voltage and high amperage BEC and programmable features (program card required). The only downside is it's size. It's a bit big, but should do fine in any 1/8th scale application.
I use this esc in my Scorpion XXL with a Leopard 4282v2 2200kv on 4S and it never misses a beat.
Runs cool, well built, and it looks great
Awesome esc! It does everything it suppose to do. With the G2 combo, you have full sensored. No cogging at low RPM.
Great esc, my family has about 10 8th scale ebuggies and 2 etruggys and we run these in all of our cars. We have never had an issue with any of them. Pair with a hobbywing motor and youre good to go.
I love this esc. Fairly new to electric. Used a tekin ESC for the first two months without much luck. The tekin caused two of my motors to overheat and burn out. Bout this one and the WiFi card with it. No issues so far and I love the way it lays the power down. Excellent esc in my opinion.
Amain Hobbies has simply the best customer service, their products are fantastic and you can beat their prices. the Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Plus is simply the best choice for the 1/8 scale platform in conjunction with the WiFi module it can't be beaten!!!.
Great Esc, most won’t bring to under the power that comes from this thing. But he who feels it, knows. Great electronic speed control for any 1/8 Rc.
Awesome ESC for the price. I just installed one in my new TLR 8ight- XTE that i built and also installed the Hobbywing 4274 2200kv sensored motor to run a 6s setup. 4s if i do actual sanctioned racing, but compared to the 4 Tekin RX8 Gen 3 combos in my other Tekno truggy, .4 and 2.0 buggies and SCT410.3, I can say that I cant tell any difference between the brands so the $80.00 or so price difference plus another $30 for the motor makes it worth while. Add to that I have 7 of the 1/10 Hobbywing XR10 pro G2 combos in all my newer 1/10 scale rigs plus the 3600kc SCT combo in my newer SCTE 3.0 and its nice having only one programmer with now 9 different profiles saved on my phone so making changes is quick and easy. No complaints and I definitely would buy more for the 8ight-XE Elite when it arrives soon, and most likely the same combo I have in the TLR truggy will go in the new Tekno 2.0 truggy when it comes out, assuming this one continues to impress for the price..
I never leave reviews. This one I need to give a heads up. With this virus I finally had time to build my 1/8 associated buggy. Xr8plus was defective. Would only run without sensor wire in. Would cut out and every time I’d have to re set esc. Basically would work when it wanted to. Frustrating. Contacted hobby wing. Was told to send in. Then they would try to fix but it would be a 89$ charge to replace plus shipping! I fought with them. Ended up sending it in because I got them to work with me. It got delivered. Waited patiently being everything now is slow and understandable with what’s going on. Now the outdoor season is over. No one is replying back to me. Sent in March and it’s September now. They still have the esc plus I’m out the shipping money. Here I am With nothing. Just a friendly heads up.
Bought the xr8 sct figuring after coupon code it was same price I would pay for them to send me a new esc and I could keep this crap one for parts etc and still have a new esc. Xr8 was flawless and way smaller! Great esc! Xr8 plus not so
Much! All the good guys I race against run that one anyway and told me about problems with that xr8plus and it was crap. Wish I asked first and never bought that piece! Lesson learned
Really impressed with this.Simply love it.I had the Mamba Monster 2 and Mamba Monster x 2200kv combo.Bought this ESC along with the 2250kv motor and I could say this feels alot more premium than the Mamba Monster series.I actually feel like this out put more power and greater speed when I time my Rustler with my garmin fortrex it's super speedy faster than the mamba monster x.Maybe that is because I chose the 2250kv motor and the Mamba Monster series comes with a 2200kv motor. That being said this is so far most definitely worth the $ 30 more I paid for it than the Mamba Monster x and 2200kv motor combo.
It was an excellent buy and excellent service. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love the hobbywing system
Love this ESC. I run it in my 1/8 e-buggy with a sensored HobbyWing motor, super smooth throttle and braking. Takes up a fair amount of space but fits fine in my RC8B3.1E. Puts down plenty of power, and very easy to program with the program box. Stays fairly cool but I did have to open up a few holes in the body shell to keep airflow to it. Highly recommend
Great esc easy to program works great with my tekin Pro4 motor.
High quality, fair price ESC. Holds up to the abuse of 1/8 scale racing.
Dust and sand gets inside the ESC. When I’m rebuilding my car, I heard somethings inside the ESC, so I took it apart and I saw a whole bunch of sand inside.
This Hass to be one of the biggest pieces of shit on the market I’ve had two of these and both had the same exact issue they would run for about a week then they would lose power I called customer support they’re not helpful at all waste of money look somewhere else
Bought 3 XR8 Plus.....1 is fine with a slight hesitation every once in awhile. 1 is still in plastic....about to send back for store credit. Now the bad......1 stopped working after about 10 minutes of running. Blinking green light...does nothing. Hobbywing North America will not respond to my emails or send a RMA number. Don't bother calling....will not answer the phone or return a call. Customer support is horrible. Going back to Tekin. Tekin will fix if any issues come up. Spend the little extra and buy Tekin
I have to say i have been very pleased with hobbywings products in the past useing them in my aircraft and rc crawlers i recently completed an axial Yeti XL so naturally hobbywing was my first choice i wanted a sensored rig which is important for slow precise movement while crawling. So i ordered this unit. Installed it easy to program although i had to order there lcd programing box seperate because it can only be programed with that specific box. I would have been nice to know i needed that it should be in the description above.. it has been raining alot in california and i decided to take the yeti xl out for some puddle plowing. After a few puddles esc started tweaking out and refused to turn on. I took it home dry truck upside down and gave it some light work with compressed air and it works fine again. After reading over hobbywings website i was mislead the switch is a water proof design this ESC is NOT WATERPROOF. I suppose if my research was a little more diligent i would have discovered this before ordering. But i gotta say i am dissapointed and i feel a little deceived. Its kinda silly that there top if the line model is NOT WATERPROOF.
