This is the Hobbywing Multifunction LCD Program Box. Program your ESC or check the voltage of your LiPo battery, the Hobbywing Multifunction LCD Program Box does it all.
- Program the parameters of your ESC
- Each parameter is displayed on the easy-to-read LCD screen
- Works as a USB adapter to link the ESC with a PC to update the firmware
- Measure the voltage of a LiPo battery, either the whole battery pack or each cell
Input Voltage: 4.5-12.6V (If the ESC doesn't have a built-in BEC, you must use an additional battery pack to supply the program box)
Display: 16x2 characters LCD
Interface: Mini USB interface, ESC interface (Futaba plug), Power supply interface (Futaba plug)
Firmware: compatible with all speed controllers, including Xerun series V2.0/2.1/3.0/3.1, EZrun V2.0, Platinum series and Platinum V3 series
Admittedly, it's a slight pain having to cycle through all of the options (and then cycle through all of the values for the option you're modifying). In that sense, the card is really no better than using a button right on the ESC. However, it's nice not having to have your face buried in a manual while counting blinking lights. So in that sense, it's worth it. I also love how small my ESC is, and I assume that couldn't have been achieved if they had built programming capability directly onboard.
So all in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. The card I received had outdated firmware, but it took all of 5 minutes to download the software for my PC, connect to the card, and then run an update. 100% painless.
When they work they work great and the price is right.
When they don't they are frustrating!
I used to use high end ESC's and program boxes yet so many co's go out of biz' due to cheap Chinese co's undercutting them so you end up w/ useless ESC's that no longer have support. I finally decided to join the dark side and purchase Hobbywing exclusively for all my cars. I own about 10 Hobbywing ESC's and a few program cards (3 to be exact).
Of the 10 HW ESC's I own, 2 do not work in that they will absolutely not connect to the program cards. I've tried everything, no dice.
Easy to use,
Doesn't always work
