This radio is simply the best pistol grip transmitter I've ever used. The response speed is amazing and the menu layout/functions are great. I currently use it for 10 of my vehicles, 6 1/8 and 1/10 electric Tekno's and TLR's that I pretty much only run only at the track, a 6s Aarma Kraton, Traxxas UDR and 4-Tec 2.0 and a heavily modified TRX-4 Defender version crawler which I've got setup using all 7 channels. Steering, throttle, hi/low speed gear box, front locker, rear locker, lights and winch control. The only complaint I had right away when I first got the radio is that for such a high end multi channel system, it has no 3 position "on/off/on" switch, which is what is typically used for winch controls. I even called Futaba Tech support and they told me I was pretty much out of luck. However, I played around with it and I figured out that I could control the winch in either direction by using a rotary dial the transmitter has. I had to make some adjustments in the menu system to dial it in to work right as with the stock setting if the dial was turned just one click in either direction it would either pay out or pull in the winch, and that wouldnt work because it would be way too easy to accidentally bump the knob without knowing it and burn up the winch motor or start feeding all the line out without knowing it. I figured out that I could adjust the dial so it wouldnt operate the winch in either direction until I had turned the dial 10 clicks from center in either direction which works great as Ive never accidentally turned it on. I called Futaba back and told them what I had come up with so they could pass the info on to anyone else who like me, bought the most expensive remote onnthe market specifically because I wanted to use all 7 channels for that vehicle. So basically once that issue was fixed Ive yet to have any other issues or complaints at all about the radio, except now they just released the new version so mine os now outdated haha.
I also ordered the Protek LiFe battery and aluminum case which both are super nice and I consider both must have options as the case keeps the radio safe plus it holds 5 of my batteries and my 3 different wifi/bluetooth esc programmers. The battery is awesome as it only needs to be charged every few weeks when I run cars a couple hours a couple times a week, plus it lasts several long days at the track between charges.
The touchscreen feature is awesome and makes going through the menus and adjusting things so much faster and easier than before. Being that it is color makes it that much cooler too. It's like having a big phone screen built right into your radio.
The one thing that Futaba needs to improve is the instruction manual. It's super thick, but it seems that whomever translated it from Japanese to English didnt do a very good job. There are many areas where they talk about functions and how to set them up, but they dont explain what they actually do more often than not. So if you have never had a radio system with more than the basic functions, it will be difficult to understand what a lot of the things on this radio do and what the purpose of many of the features and setting are. I'm even confused about some of it and I've been building RC cars since the 80's.
Overall I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend this system to anyone who wants pretty much the best and coolest radio out there or anyone who doesnt mind spending more money to get a top of the line system that wont he considered outdated or old technology for a very long time. Now I really want the 7PXR though...
very good transmitter. easy menu, easy to handle, quick response. is perfect for me.
Love it! The single best investment I have made. The super fast response is impressive. Using all the features is simple with the large easy use touch screen. Worth the money!
Excellent transmitter bright color screen very accurate quick touch screen. Very easy menus. Standard and small trigger included. Insane fast response. It has battery bar and signal strenght Icon like a cell phone which is very helpful. 4PX is great I loved my 4PX I can honestly say 7PX is better. Futaba excellence.
Awesome radio. I was always a fan of Futaba, used lots of their products in the past. As always this one exceeded my expectations.
By far one of the best radio systems I own.it has been a great investment.
As far as I'm concerned, this radio is easily the best of the best. The amount of things you can customize is absolutely mind-boggling and the display is great!
Best radio u will ever own it is very responsive and range is unbeatable with no interference.Has almost any feature or adjustment you would've like for the others to have
I like to feel of it but I'm not sure what i like the most.
Great radio this radio does everything i expected it to do
What a BEAUTIFUL: transmitter for starts! This is my 1st real transmitter as my prior transmitters were RTR. Needless to say, what a difference a real transmitter makes. I now feel like I am much more connected and in control of any vehicle I am operating. So many adjustments right on the screen. As well, the screen being such a good size makes seeing your changes very easy. Setting endpoints, dual rates etc couldn't be easier as I feel the menu layout on the Futaba 7PX is wonderful. When I 1st got it, I felt like it was just too much to understand. But after going through the very detailed manual, I have learned even more than I would have thought. I know $600.00 may seem like a crazy price to some however, This is the last transmitter you'll ever need as it has so many options with a large selection of receivers available from 3Ch to 7Ch and more. Once you start to understand the capabilities with this transmitter, you'll agree it's the only one you'll need. After changing out to the steering drop down and purchasing the SS trigger, the feel and operation of this transmitter is top notch! Would definitely buy again if I ever had to.
Amazing product! Surprisingly easy to use and understand the touchscreen feature is excellent. Transmitter is extremely responsive comfortable in your hand everything is right where it needs to be. easy to set up especially for someone new to the product which I was and still am. Very enjoyable to use completely different driving experience in the best way possible. One of my my best purchases yet! Absolutely recommend to anybody from extremely beginner to expert professional. Also it’s great if you’re racing off-road on Road rock crawling or just bashing all of the above!
The 7PX is extremely easy to use and navigate the touch screen. It makes it extremely fast to make changes. The speed of the radio is amazing and I have never had a radio as nice as this and i have had the 4PV and M12S in the past. I would definitely recommend this radio to anyone looking for a high end radio.
Awesome tadio! Super easy to use, yet has any feature you may want or need. It is lightning fast with no glitches and the touch screen is a nice feature.
Love it and caught it before it went up another $100! Disappointingly, we can not pick receivers and other accessories at time of purchase at a discount. A long time ago you could order a radio any way you liked with nothing or everything you needed as a kit. Otherwise, this radio covers my every model. Except, it's my wifes...
Very nice radio but the price is higher here than other places. Like a $100 dollars higher. Not sure why.
