While I find the Futaba transmitter and receiver to be of excellent quality and function, it is AMain I have a problem with. I paid for 2 day shipping on this order yet did not receive it for 4 days. Shipping was almost triple the cost. I emailed AMain to ask if they would credit me the difference but received no answer. Shame on you.
This radio is a monster. In my opinion, it has the capability of doing way too much. At least for me, it can do more than I will ever use. With that said, it can quickly get too complicated. I found trying to make sense out of that 136 page PDF online instruction manual to be impossible. All I will ever need this radio to do, is have great range and control the basic functions of steering and throttle. After several attempts to get the radio to work those 2 simple functions, I could not get the throttle to work. Eventually, I gave up and called Futaba tech line. The tech that assisted me was great. He quickly had everything up and running. Despite my efforts in reading the instruction manual, I would have not been able to figure out why the throttle would not respond. I cant say enough for Futaba tech support.
The main reason I went for this radio was because I was having a range issue with a ready to run radio I was using. I performed a range check on the Futaba. All I can say is that it has great range. We tested it on a clear road. I was in my car, a friend was staying with the RC car. I drove away and stopped every so often. I was forced to stopped at 1700 feet away due to a hill in the road. In any case, hill or not, at 1700 feet, I could barely see my friend standing there, let alone see the RC car. We were communicating via cell phones. More than enough range. I wonder how far it would go if I had a clearer road?
Finally, yes, its a great radio. However, its my opinion, its not necessary to have all of the functions this radio is capable of. I will be lucky if I were too use 10% of them. I think Futaba should make a radio with the great range this has, while keeping it simpler and more user friendly.
This is not just a RTR replacement radio. This a very well spec'd, comfortable racing radio with all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a top-tier unit. This easily competes with the Sanwa MT44. For me, This radio is replacing an M12S. The 4PM is more than adequate for me.
Great website, easy to order and great payment options.
Great products and super fast shipping. Keep up the good work.
i have always had rtr style controlers, first purchase of a really nice controler. it has more functions than i need, however it will handle anything i am going to do with it. i also purchased the life battery for it. both have worked flawlessly! i also like that the technology today is some much better, faster, stronger, longer lasting and waterproof!!!
this transmitter and reciever is not super response style but they are still very quick and accurate!!
i would recommend this transmitter to anyone!!!
Fantastic radio! Perfect mid range product for the basher or racer alike.
This is a very nice radio system, I would for sure recommend this radio and this vendor. I replaced an RTR radio system that had the STX2 in a Arrma Senton. It’s a day and night difference in the drivability of the truck. The Futaba T4PM is relatively easy to navigate the menu.
Excellent transmitter. I got this to replace my Futaba 3PV. It's super fast and has more settings than I'll ever need. The menus are easy to navigate and the screen is bright. It also has the ability to control up to 40 vehicles which is great. Definitely a major step up from from a Spektrum or a Flysky transmitter.
This 4PM Futaba is the only surface radio system, for the price, with telemetry voltage sensors for high voltage system, like 30V. 8S. Love it!!
It’s Awesome...so much better than my traxxas RTR...Radio I will be purchasing receivers for my other cars...
Pros:
-Feels comfortable
-Has a ton of adjustments for trigger tension/position and wheel tension.
Cons:
-Cheap. flimsy battery cover lid, feels like if you're not careful you're going to crack it eventually
-No weight in bottom of radio without battery, wants to tip over if you're not careful
-No wrist/neck strap included
-No screen protector (had to buy from some other country on ebay)
-Why can't this display on the home screen, in real-time, my receiver battery voltage?
-Telemetry is ridiculously expensive and not worth it for cars/trucks.
Overall I like it, it does everything I need, but not everything I would like to have. And considering the price and modern tech compared to my old Hitec Radios from the late 90s/early 2000s you'd think we might get a few extra features other than new wireless tech between the transmitter and receiver. I still can't believe I can't see receiver voltage on the home screen.
Had to replace my old radio so I thought I’d try the futaba 4pm . Very happy with it good quality and user friendly has all the features you’ll need for racing or just bashing .nice radio for the price.
Love this remote easy and understanding display menu. Very simple pairing process, nice light weight feel. The experience with futaba product is everything I expected.
Just got this to upgrade from my 3pv that I gave to my son and hands down This thing is awesome from how it feels in my hand to how ez it is to use. Would highly recommend
very nice piece. A little difficult to understand manual but the customer assistance folks at Futaba are very helpful
Haven’t been able to use it yet still recovering from surgery and need some more stuff to make car run
The first high quality radio I ever used was a Futaba, the model I cannot recall but I loved it, I decided then that this company makes a good quality radio. That may still be true but it is not this one.
I bought this radio for racing and I can't say that I have had any interference or signal loss, nothing like that.
but this plastic case that it is all in? Trash, it makes the the rest of it unusable. buttons fall off if bumped, I had the radio standing on a table and it tipped, not off the table, still on it and the case came apart near the screen, the screw holes are all busted there now. I don't think I will ever get a Futaba again. I have a Sanwa/Airtronics radio that is much nicer for near the same price and for less you can get a FlySky NB4 with 2 rx's and its a far better radio even though its a Chinese brand.
TLDR; plastic is brittle and breaks easy, menus are goofy to navigate, quality/price ratio is bad.
i bought this remote to use with my mini-z and i think it will be a really good upgrade compare too the stock remote
Great service from amain!! Keep up the good work!!
