After 6 years of Flite Test foamies, an epic WW1 battle is at the edge of your fingerprints! The FT SE5 Biplane was designed to build fast, fly slow and look great both on the ground and in the air. We put a lot of effort into taking a design that is known for being a handful and making easy to both build and fly. The FT SE5 Biplane is a 3 channel slow fly aircraft that can turn on a dime and be flown in a very small location. Loops, barrel rolls, wing overs and many other classic maneuvers are all possible with this little warbird. The FT SE5 Biplane is also a perfect companion for its arch rival the FT DR1, an iconic German Triplane that flew the skies and shared lead with its British nemesis. Our hope is that the SE5 will be the source of many happy memories as you take to the skies and recreate epic battles with your friends in your own backyard.

We want you to have an amazing experience both in building and flying, This kit comes with everything you need to complete the FT DR1. Push-rods, control horns, firewalls and all other items needed to make this airframe electronics ready are included in the kit. If you choose to purchase our power pack F and wheels, balance, flight performance and assembly will be quick and easy.

Flite Test Mighty Mini SE5 Biplane Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
Great designs guys. I can't believe you are kind enough to share all of your plans for free. Thank you so much for the work you put in, Craftsmanship is evident in everything you do. I can see that you truly enjoy the hobby and care for the community.

I drafted and posted a 3d printed Lewis Gun for this plane on Thingiverse and have some wheels that can be printed and inserted in Dollar store pool noodle to make sweet tires of a moderately scale size for many of your Minis.

Great work again, you guys are the best.

Flite Test Mighty Mini SE5 Biplane Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
As a beginning pilot i thought a smaller biplane would (or should) be forgiving. This one isn't. I have built it 2.5 times now and am unable to fly it ... all sorts of control surface issues - corkscrews like crazy. Tried hand launches and runway launches, added weight, checked cg, completely rebuilt wings, rudder and elevator twice (carefully checking for square as instructed), adjusted trim, expo, etc and still no joy. It is a nice looking and compact plane, and i enjoyed the build very much, but the flight is very disappointing. This plane requires a patience level of at least 7 out of 10 to get fly8ng.

Flite Test Mighty Mini SE5 Biplane Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
The SE5 was fun to build but not so fun to fly. I love how it looks but the maiden flight was horrible. Even after checking CG it barely flew and I have had to add quite a bit of weight to the nose. Stall speed is fairly high and turns are quite unstable. I also have the DR1 which is a totally different experience and a joy to fly at any speed.

Flite Test Mighty Mini SE5 Biplane Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
This was my 1st Mini build. The plane was fun and straight forward to build, and I used the recommended power pack. Flying it was far more of a challenge, especially as a 'experienced' beginner. Hand launched (no runway) the plane was wild, corkscrewing right and left like it had ailerons. In Low Rate and slowed down, 3 props (+tape & glue) later, I was figuring it out. Super sensitive to CG, but loads of power when setup as recommended. I ended up removing the landing gear completely, and while it didn't help the CG point, it tamed the plane a bit and made hard landings less traumatic. At this point, the plane flew well and became more predictable. Once dialed in, slow was relaxing fun, and fast is a rush. When I finally can't repair this one any more, I'll build another. Had to work for the reward, but worth it.

Flite Test Mighty Mini SE5 Biplane Electric Airplane Kit (609mm)
Hi there. I have built 11 Flite Test speed build kits, and 5 minis. With Power Pack A, it was a nice park flyer with good handling at altitude, but tended to Dutch roll and pitch up on landing. I put the A pack in my son’s mini scout because the F-pack I ordered had a huge angle built into the firewall. With the F pack, it’s short-coupled and requires mad rudder trim to fly straight. It’s flyable, but very sketchy and chaotic, though it has amazing vertical and really turns and burns. I’ve learned my lesson to use small mothers with small planes.
