This is the Traxxas EZ-Peak Dual Multi-Chemistry Battery Charger System with two included "Power Cell" Batteries. This charging system uses the Traxxas iD Battery Identification System and is a great solution when you need batteries and a charger for your Traxxas vehicle that runs either one or two 2S LiPo batteries. Even if your Traxxas vehicle requires only one battery, you can still take advantage of this system and have two batteries on hand for extended driving excitement.

iD Simplicity
With iD Auto-Battery Identification thereís no need to worry about the battery chemistry or capacity. EZ-Peak Dual identifies the type of battery and its capacity. EZ-Peak Dual also cuts down on wasted time by eliminating the hassle of programming and using complicated setups. Just plug an iD battery in and press Start. Thatís it! Keeping with the simplicity and ease of use, the iD system eliminates fragile balance wires and clunky balance leads. The iD system streamlines the entire charging experience.

Traxxas' Most Powerful Charger
Faster charging means you get to spend more time behind the wheel. The EZ-Peak Dual puts out a full 100 watts of power that equates to 8-amps of charging horsepower. Itís a twin turbo-equipped charger. Traxxas iD LiPos (4000mAh or higher) charge nearly 2x faster in High Output Mode. The EZ-Peak Dual isnít just for iD LiPos; the Multi-Chemistry nature of the charger means LiPos and NiMHs can be charged at the same time. Advanced Mode opens the door for backwards compatibility. This allows EZ-Peak Dual to charge any Traxxas Power Cell battery equipped with a first-generation Traxxas High-Current Connectors and Traxxas iD batteries independently or simultaneously. There are two balance ports built into the charger for Traxxas LiPo batteries equipped with external balance leads. Take full advantage of the 8-amp output and experience the pinnacle of charger flexibility and power.

Traxxas EZ-Peak 2S "Completer Pack" Dual Multi-Chemistry Battery Charger
After six months of use I have mixed feelings. Let's start with the charger. It's great! 8 amp charging and dual 4 amp charging. The led lights are blinding. I did experience the left charge side completely stop working. I contacted traxxas and it was over the 1 month manuf warranty with free replacement, but they have a lifetime replacement for 1/2 the original cost. Customer service is great. So after another $50 I have a brand new charger.
The lipos are good and bad. They are strong and last as long as they should. I have 4 lipos all the same. And they all have swelled, and they did it early within the first 5 charges. I have other lipos that are perfectly fine. I will not buy traxxas lipos again. But I'm still using the them for now.

Traxxas EZ-Peak 2S "Completer Pack" Dual Multi-Chemistry Battery Charger
Highly recommended combo with a caveat.

THE CHARGER-
The dual port ID charger is a great little unit for the price. The ID technology definitely helps those new to the hobby or unfamiliar with battery technology safely charge their batteries. Even for experienced RC hobbiests it is great to be able to just plug the battery in and press a single button. As an example, with my Hitec chargers I have to ensure that all the charger settings are correct, connect the power and balance leads to bulky balance boards and then start charging. As a result, when I am racing with my family I do not let them use my Hitec chargers as it is far too easy to screw something up. But with ID charger you would actually have to try pretty hard to screw something up, so it gives me piece of mind when there are a bunch of people using my gear with very little experience.

THE BATTERIES
The Traxxas LiPos are only 25C and therefore have a fairly low discharge rate. While this doesn't limit the fun you can have with the models, it does mean that if you are hard on the batteries they are more likely to "puff" than batteries with higher C ratings. I am fortunate enough to have an offroad track at a family member's house and have observed drivers of all skill levels use and abuse their equipment. I have noticed a high correlation between lower skill level drivers and batteries puffing. My guess is large amount of throttle bursting newer drivers do is cause higher drain on the batteries and causing them to puff (all puffing we have seen was after use, not after charging.) I personally have not had any Traxxas LiPos puff, but almost all my other family members have. That being said Traxxas has fantastic customer service and warranty on its batteries. Within the first year of purchase they will swap the battery out at no charge (hang on to your receipt) and beyond that they will replace the battery at a 50% discount.

Unfortunately there are no higher quality batteries that are ID compatible. If you like the pros of the charger and ID system you have to take the cons of the batteries. I would probably rate this 4* if Traxxas customer support was not do fantastic. For me, the trade off is worth it. I love the ease of use ID system and the 7600mAh batteries give you tons of run time. When I race at my local RC raceway I run my TLR models with higher quality batteries and use my Hitec charger, but for bashing and family racing, Slash 4x4 and ID batteries/chargers are all I use.
