This is one of the best, most capable kits I’ve built. Capra is an apt name, this thing is a goat.

Absolutely Amazing crawler, one of the best kit builds I have done since the Element. Overall this is hands down one of the best rigs Axial has ever made. I have taken mine on multiple runs and it does super every time.
This is an amazing crawler. The build is easy enough although there are some odd spots in the instructions. It is also appropriately named as it does crawl like a mountain goat. If you have questions just look at a you tube vid on building. It has taken my UMG 10's place as my main go to for crawling.
So where do I begin as a review for the Axial Capra kit?
I have other Axial branded rigs and all were kits; Wraith, SCX10II Cherokee and UMG10, Yeti, all had their deviations in upgrades.
Yet the Capra was the easiest to build while keeping to stock components, albeit I forgone the DIG for 4WS. The new plastic composition is much better for my hands. I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and dealing with fasteners that require only the slightest bit of torque, tend to get stripped, not so much an issue with the Capra.
Boomracing alloy wheels, Pro Line Super Swampers TSL/SX, Crawler Innovations 4.75 (f/soft, r/med), Hobbywing AXE 2300, CC BEC, Reefs RC 422's, Spectrum SR515/DX5C, SSD Overdrive in the front axle, Hobbystar 3s 3700mah.
Took it out for the first run just a couple days ago... a first, no break downs or failures, I gave it fair chance to do so in 40 degree weather. 3 hours and only used 1 1/2 batteries.
Honestly I think this kit is the best one to come out yet for Axial, and the only drawback is for scale points is the lack of CMS.
Its a little wider than I had hoped for, still much better suited for my trails than the GMade GOM.
It's a keeper and sure to be a regular runner for me.
Not looking for views, but if interested in seeing it against a couple other rigs, it can be found on my channel, Terra Quest RC. https://youtu.be/Ce9r8f0l5qg
Wow, what awesome build. This thing is build to last. Taking my time got my axcel, shock ,links, and servo all build . Watching all the youtube videos to see what electronics, tires to buy. HAVING SO MUCH FUN.
Awesome truck. The build is relatively straightforward, provided you use the updated instructions provided on the inter webs.
Axial hit the mark. Excellent quality and amazing crawler. I always liked the tubers. Love seeing the axels articulate. Just put soft/soft springs on and some weight in your wheels and you will be amazed.
The best thing is the you get all metal gears in the transmission and dig. Plus stainless steel links. Keep in mind one end of the links is revers threaded and the hole in the links are far making adjustments (just like a tie rod). This means you can make sure your axles are Parallel to one another and chassis.(if you’re really a perfectionist). I would definitely recommend the Capra. Good out of box performance.
Ps. Watch you tube videos on building it. Instructions are vague and sections are a bit incorrect. I’m not going to let that affect my review. I rarely use them after it’s Assembled. I Hope Axial will revisit the instruction manual. Well kit done otherwise.
The Capra is my favorite crawler build to date...even with all the omissions in the original manual that came in the kit. Being my only buggy model build to date, this outdoes all of my crawler trucks with ease. With its added width, some narrower climbs need to be altered; but, far more climbing challenges are now available too. Regardless, the Capra is awesome for its portal axel clearance and the ability to climb/descend steeper angles of rocks. Expect it should be even better when brass portals are available.
The car is just class!!!!
Everywhere passes and there are no problems with overhangs, in any dirt with pleasure.
Thank you very much)))
Great kit, some issues with instructions, but went together very well. New Axial parts are a great improvement (although shocks are still lacking for a kit). This thing is a blast on the rocks. My new favorite crawler for technical rocks!
I really like this kit. It seems they have updated the instruction manual as I had previously heard that it was not as accurate as it should be. When I did my build everything seemed to be up to date.
With that being said Horizon could have made the options for the micro servo a lil better. They could have supplied the servo saver parts with the kit instead of with the servo they recommended. Still with that being the biggest issue. The recommended servo does work very well.
I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone that is really interested in this truck. Just keep an eye on the parts you are getting for it. Maybe add a smaller pinion gear to your order as running 3S on a 35 turn motor does get a bit warm on the ESC.
A good truck and lots of fun.
Have fun and lots of it.
Sent it back and bought the RTR. I like to upgrade not build and paint.
It’s a great kit, but pay attention when building.
Just finished building this kit 2 days ago, super fun build. This is my 4th axial rig and first kit. Definitely won’t be my last, looking forward to my scx10.3 I would classify myself as an experienced Rc guy but think anyone with a decent skills set could put this thing together.
Amain processed the order quick and got it to me in great time, even with everything going on. Top notch service as always
The kit is a fun build, but beware the instruction manual is rubbish and riddled with errors. Find the updated manual online or you'll have trouble building the gearbox and driveshafts. The quality of the plastics and the suspension links is greatly improved compared to my other Axial build, the Unimog. I'm removing one star cause of the manual, but overall am quite happy.
It’s an axial. Fun kit. Drives and looks great. But once again axial failed to give the customer a complete kit. Forcing the customer to buy a crappy servo that they don’t even have available. This will probly be my last axial product.
