170SBL Black Label High Speed Brushless Servo (High Voltage) by ProTek RC
This product was added to our catalog on September 27, 2016.
ProTek RC 170SBL Black Label High Speed Brushless Servo.
Brushless servo technology has improved by leaps and bounds. Finally, brushless servos can deliver holding power, speed and precision that can compete with a coreless servo. Combine that with the superior efficiency and lifespan of a brushless motor and you have a servo that hits all the marks, with the performance and quality required for a pro level build.
A black anodized aluminum case with aluminum and white accents give this servo a stealthy look that sets it apart from the rest. The aluminum upper case provides bomb proof durability and the heat sink center case offers efficient heat dissipation and helps to reduce weight. The lead wire is detachable, allowing you to easily custom tailor the servo lead to your application, and the package includes both 135mm and 285mm length servo leads. Plus, a full selection of servo arms and mounting hardware are included making installation easy.
NOTE: If you experience glitching or poor performance while using a Futaba transmitter, you must turn off BLS mode. BLS mode is only compatible with Futaba BLS type servos.

ProTek R/C is an AMain Sports & Hobbies brand.
It has taken a good amount of beating but it is still going very strong.
The finish on this is phenomenal. For about the same price, you're getting a brushless high speed servo that can cost you twice as much when you buy other brands.
Give it a try!)
Everything you want in a servo!)
I will slowly be replacing all my other servos with this one. Highly recommend!)
The chassis seems rugged.
No servo horn provided unlike other protek units. The protek servo horn I tried on was too tight to push on by hand, but fit fine on my 160T. I'm sure some anti-seize and a screw would fix the issue with some massaging.
The initial start-up has a nice audible tone. Its also slowly moves the servo horn to it's neutral position.
In comparing this to my brushless MKS. It doesn't have the shakes. Its a tiny bit more noisy. Its a tiny bit less precise than both my MKS and my 160T protek which I really like. The 160T is made in Korea, not China like this model.
The servo comes with hardware, a med and long length plug in wire. Amain also lists a shorter wire for sale.
I have yet to run this, but from what I see so far, I would rather buy the Korean protek servos like the 160T over this unit. I might consider this for a larger bash truck with big tires, like a Revo with a one servo kit installed.
The bottom line for now is that this thing seems solid, has very good gear lash (tight), but isn't as good as something like a comparable MKS OR Sanwa servo. The main difference is preciseness.
I'll give this 4 stars for now. Really more of a 3.5 star rating. Once I get some time on it, I'll be able to provide more objective info. I'll move the star rating if needed at that time.)
