![]() Hobby Connection Day - September 8, 2007
HobbyTown Reading's fourth Hobby Connection Day was held on Saturday, September 8, 2007.
Chris Chianelli, star of the Radio Controlled Hobbies show and Joe Sylvester with his Bad Habit Monster Truck were featured guests for the day. Other guest visitors were Reading Royals mascot Slapshot and Zeppy the Clown. Mike Faust of WEEU 830 AM radio broadcast live from the parking lot for two hours. Activities included Lego and Revell Make-N-Take classes in the store and Dennis 'Tiny' Haag conducting Estes Rocket building and launch classes in the parking lot and adjoining lot. Concessions were provided by Boy Scout Troop 160 and a moon bounce was provided by Ozzy's Sports Fun Center. The 2007 dirt track racing awards were presented and a dirt track race was conducted with 50% of the entry fees paid back to the first and second place winners in each class in the form of HobbyTown gift cards. Flying demonstrations were conducted by Chris Chianelli and members of the Tri-County Wingsnappers Flying Club. Drawings were held for merchandise totaling over $1,600 in retail values and children were provided with balloons, balsa gliders, aero props or miniature rubber ducks. The day was a huge success with the Slapshot and the rocket classes/launches being the favorites of many. Numerous parents commented about the day and what it meant to their children.
